But in this lack of logic, a space is created. A space to be filled with whatever I want. Mountains. Forest. Ridgelines. Horizons. Competition. Camaraderie. Community. Exertion. Discomfort. Flow. Joy. Running is no...

While hiking up to the cliffs at White Bluff Provincial Park, it’s hard to miss the monumental crack that splits the cliff from bottom to top. The route has inspired climbers since the 1980s, and finally Peter Croft, the legendary climbing icon, made the first free ascent with impeccable style in 1987. Since then, the route doesn’t get as much love as it should - BUT - there’s some new cracktol...

    I use them for many years now, for mountain running, the quality of the shoe got worse with the years. I had to go to the shoe repair shop because the stitches were getting loose, this happened with the last 3 pairs i bought. The price has been raised and the box now reads Hiking instead of Mountain running.

    Rocked geniuses for about a year and these are close to scratching that same itch. Only gripe with them is that I wish they would’ve gone with a skwama/solution comp heel

      The new no edge lineup-the Mandala highlighted here, along with updates of the Futura, Genius, and Mantra-all have the same heel as the Solution Comp (which has a substantially different heel than the Skwama).

    Ive been wearing these in the gym the last couple weeks, great shoe. Honestly its an overkill for my grade but my feet are very asymmetrical and more neutral shoes aggravate my bunions, lol. I love the PD85 highly asymmetrical last so these and the Testarossa are my shoes of choice. Fit is pretty similar, id say the Mandala feels 1/4 size smaller but that could be due to the Testarossa stretching over time since they are leather. I also like the insert in the bottom of the Testarossa toebox, wish the Mandala had it.

  • @TrackpadProductions
    @TrackpadProductions 10 днів тому

    Yeah, there's a lot of differences between this and the Futura, like the bigger toe cap, the more supportive last, the slimmer heel, and the, uh, you know. _The closure system that won't break after 2 months._ 😏

    • @capyxoxo
      @capyxoxo День тому

      Lol good summary. Tangentially, I'm not convinced about the toe hook. I never got use to futura toe rubber placement and texture (or lack thereof). The toe looks very similar here, just longer, which doesn't inspire confidence

    Kind of a disappointing film, especially considering Billy Yang's earlier (and astonishingly good) work. There wasn't anything about actual running here, or the course, or the journey, just some uninteresting wealth manager talking. All 100-mile finishers have incredible mental endurance, so repeatedly pointing that out as his strength was a little odd. I don't know, I guess this bland American Dream pull-yourself-up story just didn't resonate with me at all.

      I think you've missed the point that most non-elite competitors (like Jeff) have "uninteresting" day jobs / lives (depending on your viewpoint) but they have also generally overcome various difficulties and yet still choose to challenge themselves through their running (or other sport) activities. This film's point is that ANYONE could also accomplish their goals with persistence, resilience and putting in the work.
